Available in the "More" section are an olio of information that doesn't fit in the main categories of the Geography website. The five larger topics are:

to Honor Society page Local chapter of the International Geographical Honor Society
to facilities index Departmental facilities and equipment
to geography-related links Geography-related links
to geography-related links History of the Geography Department
to page about this website About this website

Also posted is the 2001 vision statement that the faculty hammered out. For those considering being part of the Department - as faculty, researchers, and students - the vision statement could be helpful in discerning whether our endeavors will help you further your own goals.

Linked to this page are several different files of the Department logo and three Powerpoint templates— for use by faculty, staff, and students.

The Powerpoint templates are on an ftp server. When you click on any of them, you will go to the directory that has all three:

template_1_geog_clrs.pot (74 KB)
template_2_ucsb_clrs.pot (75 KB)
template_3_wht_blk.pot (91 KB)

For fun, we have a page of favorite quotations that relate to geography or scientific studies that the faculty, students, and staff have collected.

And we have included the text of an interesting talk by Mary Lynne Bird, given November 2002, about "Hidden Geographers" — people with geographic training who make use of their knowledge in careers one might not expect to find them. If this interests you, you might like to read the first section of the eleventh chapter of our Department history saga. It describes the job market for geography graduates and lists some of the specific jobs our students got soon after graduation.
