For those considering being part of the Department - as faculty, researchers, and students - the vision statement could be helpful in discerning whether our endeavors will help you further your own goals. For fun, we have a page of favorite quotations that relate to geography or scientific studies that the faculty, students, and staff have collected. And we have included the text of an interesting talk by Mary Lynne Bird, given November 2002, about "Hidden Geographers" people with geographic training who make use of their knowledge in careers one might not expect to find them.
